The Academy of Natural Sciences has picked up Ollie and Tugg for the second time. Nice to see it on their shelves again.

France 2011

I had a great opportunity to speak to over 400 children in 3 cities (Gien, Vannes, Montauban: France) about book creation and illustration. In between presentations, I was able to see friends that I haven’t seen in over 8 and 9 years, eat some great food and take in some sights that I have never seen before. The Musee D’Orsay has a fantastic show running, “Beauty, Morals and Voluptuousness in the England of Oscar Wilde”… phenomenal.

It was really a great time, and the kids gave back as much as I gave them. I hope to have the opportunity to do more of this in the very near future.

Dr. Sketchy’s in Philadelphia

This was my first experience with Dr. Sketchy’s and it was fun. Grabbed a beer at the bar (the World Café Live in Philadelphia) and was pretty entertained by the hostess and the funkiness that the models brought with them. It’s been a long time and I was way out of practice from sketching from life with a time limit. (Let alone from a model wearing a wig of clear tubes in 10 inch platforms with fishnet stockings.)

I was told about this by a certain Joe(y) Martin(i) from the Peekaboo Revue. They closed up the Philadelphia Fringe Festival and that is another story. A total trip back in time, live band, burlesque, comedy…a full on circus. I’d recommend it for a night out; it was a good time.
